Assateague: Island of the Wild Ponies
Andrea Jauck and Larry Points
32 pages. 9”x 9”
ISBN 0-939365-59-6

Assateague is a long barrier island off the coasts of Maryland and Virginia. On one side is the Atlantic Ocean; on the other a calm bay. The Island is home to many animals, both large and small. Assateague’s most famous residents are the herds of wild ponies that live there. This 32-page book includes plenty of color photos and is intended for our younger readers.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS
ANDREA JAUCK was born in Chicago, Illinois. She worked for some years for the National Park Service, which took her to Hawaii and the Theodore Roosevelt Ranch as well as Assateague Island—her favorite assignment—where she gained first–hand knowledge of the island’s ponies. She and her husband now live in University park, Illinois.

LARRY POINTS was raised in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on the Mississippi and the edge of the Ozarks, where his interest in the outdoors developed. He has served as an interpretive naturalist on Assateague Island for many years. He lives in Delmar, Maryland, with his wife—a science teacher—and two daughters (who provided valuable editorial advice).
