I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree…

Giant
Sequoia are the largest, and among the oldest, living
organisms on the face of the earth. Millions of years
ago sequoias grew all over the Northern Hemisphere,
including Europe and Asia. Today, Giant Sequoias grow
only on the western slope of California’s Sierra
Nevada. Mariposa Grove is home to one of the largest
and oldest groves of these ancient giants still surviving
today. Truly a wonder of nature, these prehistoric trees
still stand in exhalted, majestic, silence among the
members of the forest community they harmonize with.
Walt
Danneman, driver and narrator, will explain and show
you the highlights of one of Yosemite National Park’s
brightest gems, the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.
See the grove’s most famous trees, filmed in an
outstanding digital format to capture their brilliant
color. Hear commentary on the grove’s remarkable
ecosystem, it’s fascinating history and preservation,
and understand for yourself the astonishing amount of
time it takes to create the world’s largest trees:
the Giant Sequoia of Mariposa Grove.
WALT
DANNEMAN had been sharing his intimate knowledge about
the Giant Sequoias of Yosemite’s Mariposa Grove
with visitors for nearly two decades.
